Feliz  Halloween, little swans! Uma das melhores datas do ano finalmente chegou, e preparei 20 curiosidades arrepiantes sobre os clássicos monstros da Universal Studios! Gostaria de dedicar esse post especialmente à minha amiga Dracurella, que também é super fã dos monstrinhos!
Happy Halloween, little swans! One of the best holidays is finally here, so I've prepared 20 spooky fun facts about the classic monsters of Universal Studios! I'd like to dedicate this post specially to my friend Dracurella, who's a big fan of the monsters!

1. A equipe de maquiagem levava longas horas para fazer os visuais. Transformar Boris Karloff em múmia levava oito horas e duas para remover. A de monstro de Frankenstein era menos difícil de se fazer, levando quatro horas, mas a roupa pesava 23kg! A de Lobisomem levava seis para fazer e três para remover;
2. Bela Lugosi foi originalmente escalado para interpretar monstro de Frankenstein, porém recusou por não ter falas. Mas em 1943, vinte anos depois, Lugosi interpretou o monstro em Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman;
3. Em contrapartida, Boris Karloff não gostou da ideia do monstro ter falas em A Noiva de Frankenstein, afirmando que isso destruiria o charme do personagem;
4. Ricou Browning precisava segurar a respiração por mais de quatro minutos para filmar as cenas aquáticas de O Monstro da Lagoa Negra;
5. O Drácula só foi visto se transformar em morcego em O Filho do Drácula, filme que foi lançado treze anos depois do original;
1. The makeup team took long hours to finish the looks. Transforming Boris Karloff into the mummy took eight hours and two to remove it. The makeup of the Frankenstei monster was less difficult, taking four hours, but the entire costume weighed 50 pounds! The Wolfman look took six hours and three to take it off;
2. Bela Lugosi was the original cast for the Frankenstein monster, but refused as it had no lines. But in 1943, twenty years later, Lugosi portrayed the monster in Frankenstein Meet The Wolfman;
3. Curiously, Boris Karloff didn't like that the monster had lines in Bride of the Frankenstein, arguing that it would ruin the charm of the character;
4. Ricou Browning had to hold his breath for up than four minutes to film the underwater scenes of The Creature from the Black Lagoon; 
5. Dracula was only seen transforming into a bat in Son of Dracula, released thirteen years after the original movie;

6. O poster de A Múmia tem o recorde de maior lance dado a um pôster de filme em um leilão: $453.500 dólares, o que na cotação atual dá aproximadamente R$1.360.500. Tenebroso! 

7. Quatro atores interpretam o monstro de Frankenstein em A Casa do Drácula. O primeiro que aparece é interpretado por Glenn Strange, o segundo por Lon Chaney Jr., Boris Karloff em seguida e o último pelo dublê de Lon Chaney Jr., Eddie Parker; 

8. Ricou Browning mal conseguia enxergar com a roupa de monstro da lagoa negra e ele passava quatorze horas com ela, sem poder sentar. Segundo o ator, "era como enxergar pelo buraco de uma fechadura com a visão turva";

9. As falas de Lugosi em Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman foram retiradas de última hora, tanto que é possível ver que a boca do ator se move sem emitir nenhum som em algumas cenas. Isso porque acharam hilário o sotaque húngaro de Lugosi. Muitos telespectadores ficaram confusos com a ausência das falas;

10. Essa é minha curiosidade favorita: O comportamento da noiva do monstro de Frankenstein foi inspirado no de um cisne. Elsa Lanchester observava os cisnes do Regent's Park em Londres e se inspirou neles para interpretar a noiva. Isso é perceptível pelos movimentos que ela faz com o pescoço e cabeça. Lanchester afirmou que "cisnes são criaturas muito desagradáveis";
6. The poster for The Mummy holds the record for most money paid for a movie poster at auction: $433,500. All that money gives me chills!
7. Four actors play the Frankenstein monster in House of the Dracula. The first to make an appearance was portrayed by Glenn Strang, the second one by Lon Chaney Jr., followed by Boris Karloff then Lon Chaney Jr.'s double, Eddie Parker;
8. Ricou Browning could barely see in his costume of creature of the black lagoon and had to wear it for fourteen hours, and wasn't allowed to sit down. According to him, "it's kind of like looking through a keyhole with blurred vision";
9. Lugosi's lines in Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman were removed at the last minute and there are scenes where you can spot the actor's mouth moving with no words coming out. It happened because the production and audience at the screen test thought that Lugosi's Hungarian accent was hilarious. Many viewers were confused;
10. This is my favorite fun fact: The behavior of the bride of the Frankenstein was inspired by how swans behave. Elsa Lanchester used to watch the swans from the Regent's Park in London and was inspired by them to portray the bride. You can see it by the moves she does with her neck and head. Lanchester claimed that "swans are very nasty creatures";

11. Uma versão espanhola de Drácula foi filmada nos mesmos sets que o original, porém com atores espanhóis e com um final mais longo com trinta minutos a mais de diferença. O original é considerado superior, mas a versão espanhola foi aclamada e elogiada por ter usado ângulos e técnicas de filmagem diferentes;
12. Bela Lugosi interpretou Ygor, o assistente corcunda do Dr. Frankenstein em O Filho de Frankenstein e O Fantasma de Frankenstein;
13. As icônicas presas de vampiro nunca foram usadas nos filmes da Universal. O visual foi popularizado por Christopher Lee, na adaptação de 1958 pela Bray Studios;
14. Em versões recentes de Frankenstein para DVD, uma fala que havia sido censurada foi colocada de volta: "Em nome de Deus, agora eu sei o que é ser Deus!". Essa fala estava presente na premiere de 1931 mas quando o filme foi relançado ao final da década, acharam que seria melhor censurar e substituíram por um efeito sonoro de trovão;
15. Sabe aquela história de que o homem se transforma em lobo na lua cheia? Não foi introduzida até a continuação de Lobisomem. No primeiro filme, ele se transformava em uma noite de outono;
11. A Spanish version of Dracula was filmed at the same sets with Spanish-speaking actors and with a final running time thirty minutes longer than the Enligsh-speaking counterpart. The original movie is considered superior, but the Spanish version was well-received and praised for using different angles and filming techniques;
12. Bela Lugosi played Ygor, Dr. Frankenstein's hunchback assistant, in Son of Frankenstein and The Ghost of Frankenstein;
13. The iconic vampire fangs were never worn in the Universal movies. The look was popularized by Christopher Lee in the 1958 movie by  Bray Studios;
14. In recent Frankenstein DVDs, a line that previously censored was restored: "In the name of God, now I know what it feels like to be God!”. This line was present during the 1931 premiere but when it was released in the late 30's, it was decided that it had to be removed and was replaced by thunder sounds;
15. The full moon aspect of the Wolfman wasn't introduced until its sequel. On the first movie, he'd transform in an atumn night;

16. Boris Karloff era a escolha original para interpretar o Homem Invisível, mas o diretor James Whale acidentalmente ouviu Claude Rains em uma audição para um outro filme. Whales adorou a voz do ator e o escalou;
17. Toda a franquia de A Múmia se passa no futuro. O filme original, de 1921, se passa em 1931. A Mão da Múmia, de 1930, em maio de 1940. A Tumba da Múmia, 1942, em 1970. O Fantasma da Múmia, 1944, em 1972, e por fim, A Maldição da Múmia, também de 44, em 1997;
18. Elsa Lanchester interpreta Mary Shelley no prólogo de A Noiva de Frankenstein;
19. E falando em Mary Shelley, não é revelado como Victor deu vida ao monstro na novela. O método com choque através raios é criação da Universal;
20. Ricou Browning acidentalmente bateu a cabeça de Julie Adams em rochas artificiais enquanto gravavam a cena da caverna de O Monstro da Lagoa Negra. Felizmente, a atriz não se feriu gravemente.
16. Boris Karloff was the original choice for the Invisible Man, but director James Whale accidentally heard Claude Rains during a screen test for a different movie. Whales loved his voice and cast him for the role;
17. The entire Mummy franchise takes place in the future. The original 1921 movie is set in 1931. The Hand of the Mummy, 1930, in may of 1940. The Mummy's Tomb. 1942, in 1970. The Mummy's Ghost, 1944, in 1972, and finally, The Mummy's Curse, premiered also in 1944, takes place in 1997;
18. Elsa Lancherster plays Mary Shelley in the prologue of The Bride of the Frankenstein;
19. And talking on Mary Shelley, it was not revealed how Victor gave life to the monster in the original novel. The method with lightning and shock was created by Universal;
20. Ricou Browning accidentally knocked Julie Adams' head against fake rocks while filming the cave scene of The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Fortunately, the actress didn't have any bad injuries.
