Raven Hair Diaries #1: Tonalizando pela primeira vez / Coloring for the first time

I've realized that I've never talked about hair in the Boudoir before. Which is funny because I talk about makeup, skin care, but I have never mentioned hair. Since I've started to take some extra care with my locks, I thought that it would be a nice idea to have a little corner in the blog to talk exclusively about it and since I'm legally brunette I decided to name it "Raven Hair Diaries". Now I'll let you know which hair products I've been using, vintage hairstyle tips and I'll also post a few reviews. You can complain in the comments if I break my promise, haha!
I thought that it would be nice to start talking about hair, I've colored it for the first time. My hair was virgin then, or as Regina George would say, "half virgin"; In the end of 2014, I had colored half of it to do an ombré inspired by Harley Quinn in the "Harley Quinn's Revenge" DLC for Arkham City. Back in that time, I was DYING to color my hair in fantasy shades and no longer be a brunette, I used to hate to cut it, and that ombré was the only thing my mom authorized. In August 2015, if I remember it right, I got bored of it and I cut not only to remove the ombré but make it easier for vintage hairstyles (if Veronica Lake is not your hair inspo and your hair is heavy and thick as mine, it's pretty hard to keep up a victory roll). And, for some reason, I wasn't interested in fantasy hair colours anymore.  I don't know what happened, if Bettie, Dita and Audrey met me in a dream and told me to "keep it brunette" or if it's because I became friends with people who struggle so hard to keep their hair black. Fine, I really had discovered great black-haired role models (besides the three names I mentioned, Krysten Ritter, Jane Russell, Elizabeth Taylor, Veronica from "Archie", Hedy Lamarr and Ava Garner are undeniably wonderful. Krysten in "Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23" made me laugh so much that she's probably responsible for my decision), but I had promised myself that I'd dye my hair in as many colors as possible. I still want to know how I'd look as a blonde, but it's only happening in a lot of years - really, a lot.

ANYWAYS, moving foward; I wanted to dye it to darken my natural color and get rid of sunburnt hair. Natural brunettes know that its biggest con is how sensible to sunrays it is. I chose an ammonia-free dye from Natucor, a line that belongs to a Brazilian brand called Embelleze - the price is great and they don't test on animals. I picked their darkest shade, which is a blue black, and I bought two because I have a loooot of hair. I decided to do a homemade gloss treatment with it, it's very easy and really good for black hair and after using chemicals.
There are many ways to get a gloss treatment, but here's the "recipe" of how I made it: mix two spoons of a white/clear hair moisturizing cream of your choice to the ammonia-free dye (yes, it has to be an ammonia-free dye). You can also add a few drops of vitamin ampoule, I didn't, but that's a nice tip; with your hair wet, apply the dye, leave it for the time recommended by the brand you chose and wash, finishing with a hair mask of your choice.

Produtos que usei (além do tonalizante) /
Products I've used (besides the ammonia-free dye):

♥ Óleo Hidratação shampoo by Seda (Sunsilk/Sedal/Elidor): I know, I know - Sunsilk belongs to Unilever, which means animal testing. But I'm using their products at the moments because they're doing wonders to my hair and I didn't find a cruelty-free shampoo on the same level or better, not yet. I'll black-list it when I find. Meanwhile, I will be using their products, plus it's the only brand I know with a line for black hair.
Recarga Natural Força Antiquebra moisturizing cream by Seda: Like, I'm not gonna say that it solves my problem with broken hair completely because it doesn't, but I noticed a huge difference since I've started using it. It removed the stinky scent of hair dye when mixed to the ammonia-free dye.
♥ Coconut oil mask by Fiovit: I used a single-use sachet and I liked it A LOT, it has that common oily texture of coconut oil with the consistency of a mask as well. But I've contacted the brand to ask about animal testing (couldn't find any information in the web) and their answer was kinda weird. Not sure if I should black-list Fiovit or not:

"Our products are developed and tested for human use, we don't do animal testing, I can't tell you if it's safe."

Resultado final / Final results:

Not sure if you can spot any difference in the picture, but it is really different now! The gloss treatment made my hair wonderful, so shiny, silky, smooth and even lighter. The result of the coloring was very dark with a slightly blue background, made me think of the ladies from John Willie's illustrations  I'm very happy with it and I'll keep coloring it and getting the treatment, every month, and discovering the power of raven locks!

Isso é tudo pessoal! Espero que tenham gostado, principalmente as morenas! Beijos!
That's all folks! Hope you guys liked it, specially the brunettes! Kisses!

  2. Finalmente comentando aqui!
